Orrick Strengthens Antitrust and Competition Practice with New Partner Hire in London
Orrick has announced the addition of Victoria Newbold as a partner in its antitrust and competition practice in London, the firm revealed on Monday. Newbold, who brings expertise in antitrust investigations, merger control and foreign direct investment, will be advising clients across the tech, financial services and retail sectors.
According to a statement from Orrick, Newbold has a strong focus on antitrust matters and will be assisting clients as they navigate complex regulatory environments, particularly in dealings with the U.K. Competition & Markets Authority, the European Commission and other global competition agencies. Her experience spans a wide range of industries, making her an asset to Orrick’s clientele, particularly in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
Most recently, Newbold served as a partner at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner and has held the position of Senior Competition Counsel at Bloomberg, where she gained significant in-house experience. Recognized by Legal 500 as a rising star and a next-generation partner, her reputation in the legal community is well established.
Orrick’s London Office Leader, Mark Beeley, expressed the firm’s enthusiasm about Newbold’s arrival, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Vic as we continue to build out our world-class team in London and Europe, working closely with our team in the U.S. The role of the CMA and other competition authorities will only increase in an AI-powered tech ecosystem, and Vic will be a key member of the multidimensional team serving our high-growth company and investor clients.”
Newbold is Orrick’s third partner hire in London this year, following the recruitment of Mae Morter, a debt financing advisor, and Alfred Weightman, who specializes in data center power purchase agreement transactions.
Commenting on her new role, Newbold said, “Orrick’s globally integrated tech platform is built for this moment in the market. The firm acts for the most exciting AI, tech, and fintech clients globally, and I look forward to collaborating closely with my new colleagues to help these companies scale, innovate, and navigate a fast-changing regulatory environment.”
